What is a social share QR code?

READ. 3 MIN

A social share QR code is a dynamic code paired with a public landing page that exposes one-click share buttons for the three networks people actually use to pass links around.

When someone scans your QR code with a phone camera, they land on a small, fast page that displays the destination you set, a preview, and a row of share buttons. The social share QR code turns a physical or printed image into a social distribution surface. A scanner can open the link, or send it forward to a friend, a group chat, or a professional network without copying a URL by hand.

Three channels are included on every code. Facebook covers wide public reach and community groups. WhatsApp is the default messenger for one-to-one and small group communication in most of the world. LinkedIn handles professional networks and B2B outreach. Together they cover the majority of link sharing activity that happens outside of SMS.

The share buttons call each platform's official share dialog. On mobile, this opens the native app if installed. On desktop, it opens a pop-up compose window. The user adds a message and hits send. Your QR URL travels with the post. You did not have to do anything beyond creating the code.

02 / HOW

Three steps from code to social feed.

STEP
01

Create the code

Enter a destination URL and generate a dynamic QR code. The share buttons are enabled by default.

STEP
02

Scan or open

Viewers reach the landing page from a printed code, a link, or a direct scan and see the three share buttons.

STEP
03

One-click share

A tap opens the native share dialog on Facebook, WhatsApp or LinkedIn with the link already filled in.

03 / CAPABILITIES

What the social share QR code does.

F.01

Facebook share

Opens the official Facebook share dialog with your QR URL ready to post to feed, story or group.

F.02

WhatsApp send

Opens a WhatsApp chat picker. Recipients get the link in a private or group conversation.

F.03

LinkedIn post

Opens LinkedIn's share composer so professionals can push the link to their network feed.

F.04

Native dialogs

On mobile, taps open the installed app. On desktop, a centered pop-up handles the compose step.

F.05

Zero setup

Share buttons are on by default. No API keys, no app IDs, no platform developer accounts required.

F.06

Toggle off

Hide the share row per code if you prefer a minimal landing page without social affordances.

04 / USE CASES

Where a social share QR code earns its place.

U.01

Fundraising campaigns

Supporters open your landing page and forward it to friends and family in one tap. A single scan becomes ten new views when sharing is frictionless.

U.02

Event promotion

Print the QR on flyers, posters and badges. Attendees push the event page into their WhatsApp groups during the event itself.

U.03

Nonprofit outreach

Nonprofits promoting donations benefit from every share. LinkedIn extends reach into professional circles, Facebook into communities.

U.04

Product launches

Put the code on packaging and displays. Customers can recommend the link to a contact group during their buying journey.

05 / FAQ

Questions.

Five answers on how the social share QR code works in practice.

Q.01

Which platforms are supported?

Every social share QR code includes Facebook, WhatsApp and LinkedIn share buttons. These three cover personal messaging, social feeds and professional networks.

Q.02

Is sharing free?

Yes. Share buttons are included with every QR code on every plan, with no per-share fee and no sharing limit.

Q.03

Can I disable share buttons?

Yes. Toggle the share row off per code if you prefer a minimal landing page.

Q.04

Does a share count as a scan?

No. A share only opens the platform dialog. A scan is recorded when someone opens the URL in a browser.

Q.05

Do recipients need an account?

No. Anyone who receives the shared link opens it directly, the same as scanning the code with a camera.
